Our Beautiful Hotel-The Venetian!

We weren't originally going to stay at the Venetian, but in the end, we ended up treating ourselves to a week full of luxury(and probably the last time for the next 20 years!) I have never seen (nor stayed) in a hotel so nice in my entire life!! WOw, the Venetian was absolutely gorgeous and worthy of each of it's 5 stars! I think Ryan and I felt like too little kids being treated to the worlds largest ice-cream Sundae and were ridiculously giddy about it the entire time! We had debated whether to stay there or in it's newer addition(The Palazzo) but they are both the same rooms now, same style, and are both connected to eachother so it made no difference! It was so cool-the night we went to phantom, we literally took the elevator down 28 floors, got out, took a left, and walked right into the Phantom of the Opera Theatre! THe show by the way, was AMAZING! The special effects, the atmosphere, even the lighting was spectaculor. It was awesome. We basically just walked around all week, did some shopping, ate some really yummy food, watched movies and sports-center on our flat screens in the same room at the SAME time(one for each of us!) stayed up late, and slept in even later. Doesn't get much better than that, does it?! Our last night there, we saw Jersey Boys. Now, apparently there are a lot of contraversial oppinions of this show....I'm sure I could say a lot of things about this show, but if I am going to say one thing it would be this: So FUN! Yes, there were a lot of things that I could have done with out-blah blah blah,but I don't want to talk about that-It was amazing! The singing was phenomenal, you know all the songs from growing up no matter how old you are, and personally, I'd say if you get a chance to go see it, DO it!! So so so much fun!

Of course I went straight for the room service menu!

And I swear Ryan played with the remote control blinds/shades/curtains for 10 mins!

When Ryan and I were on vacation in Vegas, we were able to first have Sunday dinner with his cousins that live there!! We love them tons, and haven't been able to see them in quite a while, so it was so great to catch up, and just have a good time!It was a fun Sunday!

Some of you may know the the Rose family(Judy and Jerry Rose) have been and always will be a second family to me. They all have played such a huge and vital role in my life since I was 12 yrs. old, and I could not love them more if they were of the same blood! The two youngest of their family, Ashlee and Alicia(aka. "my girlies")who are twins, are just as much my little sisters as Karen and Annie are. Ashlee was just married this past September and now my little Leeshy has just recently gotten engaged! She was out here in Dallas in April visiting her (now) fiance's family who live about 15 mins. away from me, so she got to come visit me and the Waltons! I was super sad that we didn't get to hang out and play as we had originally planned to but I ended up having a terrible stomach flu most of the time she was here, and was lucky enough to get well enough before she left! It was soooooo good to see her-I love her so much! Definitely wasn't for long enough, but I guess it's always that way with family no matter how much time you get huh?> Anyways, I'm so excited for her and her upcoming marriage! She's so much fun, and such a beautiful, wonderful, talented girl with an amazing, incredible family! I was so glad I was able to meet her hubby to be! He's a wondeful guy and one lucky man!(but I'm sure he knows that!)
p.s. No worries, I'm very aware that one of my girlie's talents is making me more fully aware and confident that I must have Albino genes in my blood! I mean, how else could I have all of these tans sisters, and be whiter than a Giesha doll!hUH?!-LOL)

Carly and I had been super sick most of the weekend wtih a violent stomach bug, and she was finally feeling better, and wanted to take pictures of herself and mommy.....she still couldn't manage to smile much, but what can ya do?! My sister Karen has just finished her sophomore year at BYU and she had a week off before summer semester started, so she came to visit!! She and I are nearly 6 1/2 yrs. apart, but she is one of my best friends-both of my little sisters are. I think I was already crying about her leaving before she even got here!(That probably only makes sense to my fellow "sisters" out there!)Anwyays, we had so much fun, and unfortunately, our last 2 days were spoiled with Carly and I coming down with the most violent stomach flu I have ever seen! Ryan was working all night at the hospital, and it hit me at about 5pm, and Carly around 10pm, and if Karen wasn't there, I don't know what we would have done! She definitely saved the day, and she and Carly became real close pals after the all night hours spent together over a pink mixing bowl, and a sippy cup of gatorade. Karen stayed up all night with her, and luckily Ryan was able to steal home around midnight and play nurse to me.It wasn't how I pictured spending our last couple days together, but we were sure glad she was there!
I love and miss you Karen!!!

It is so fun to have our dear friends, The Waltons, only 3 minutes away from us here in Dallas! They're also in our ward, which is tons of fun! I grew up with them in my ward in Louisville Kentucky, and used to baby-sit their kiddies, who now baby-sit Carly! Crazzzy! They've kind of become our family away from home-Anyways, we love them tons and Carly always loves going over there, so it was a treat to have Easter dinner and our Easter egg hunt with them and their family.

Carly is crazy about her bows! I kid you not, the girl gets terribly upset if you put her hair up without putting a bow in it! Well, if she ever finds a random bow anywhere in the house, she expects it to be put in her hair immediately! Well, these pics were taken when I was sitting in Carly's room the other afternoon, reading, while she was playing in hers and the other upstairs bedroom across the hall. Well, she got into one of her bow boxes, and one by one, she'd bring them to me and ask me to put them into her hair. It took me quite a while to convince her that there was no more room for anymore bows!! Aren't kids suppose to NOT want things in their hair?! I'm sure many of you out there are saying, "Only your child, Katie!" LOL- What can you do?!

Yes, I know we've been off the radar for over HALF a year!!! Trust me, I know-I don't intend to let happen again, even if only to keep the relatives happy!!! I have spent all day "recapping" the past 7+months, so I'm not really feeling up to writing anymore today. But there are tons of posts below now to catch you up on us! Holiday in Indy!

Carly and I went to Indianapolis(where my parents now live)two days after Christmas.(Sadly, Ryan was back to work at the hospital already!)It was so much fun to be home with my brothers and sisters! It was a special treat on top of that to have my brothers' darling girlfriends with us there for the first half of our trip! I took a bunch of pics,(mostly on the same night)so I'm just going to post them all on here-random and all. Oh, and just so you know, we Moyes' like to make lots of "pretty" faces!!!Seriousness is SO overrated!!

My parent's are going to kill me for putting this picture on here, but it's all I got with them! But I'll explain. My mom was super sick with pluracy when we were there, and she and my dad were camping out in one of the guest rooms watching movies when I came in and snatched a pic!

Lauren (Nick's girlfriend)is a hairdresser, and was kind enough to do our hair for us that night(New Years Eve)!!! She colored and cut Karen's and Annie's, but wimp that I am and always have been, I went for a basic trim. Lauren hopes to eventually work me up to highlights in the future-we'll see....Hopefully someday I'll have the guts do something about my boring hair color! First for everything!

So my parents were determined to get ONE picture of all of us, since we weren't going to get professionals done this year without Ryan. Didn't matter what we were wearing(apparently-Half of us are in our sweats!) as long as we were all in one picture together-Sounds like an easy task, right?! Well, unfortunately, this picture included myself and my brother Devan, and we are not so good at being serious when the time calls for it-Well, the rest of the fam wasn't too pleased with us(understandably so), because instead of taking a couple of simple pictures, we had to do quite a few, because I couldn't keep it together! I'm sorry, old habits die hard! Once you get me laughing, it is sometimes hard to stop! Especially when I'm NOT suppose to be laughing or being silly! You can always count on me to mess these things up! Yup, I gotta work on that- Anyways, I thought I'd post a few of those "candid" pics (I'm ashamed to admit how many "candids" actually exist)that resulted in my dad having to take a few too many trips back to the camera to reset the timer. Whoops!! Sorry Mom and Dad! Just thought I'd give you guys a flash of the good ol' days! But hey, we got 3 semi-decent ones!Right?

This year, we had our own little Christmas here at home! Just the three of us! It was fun, but a little quiet, and we obviously didn't plan out the picture and video thing too well. I guess we're so use to having everyone around on Christmas that we don't have to worry about lack of photos!! Though many of you may or may not share my enthusiasm in this subject, I love wrapping presents! Ryan was making fun of me for all the different bows and paper I get, but I have so much fun making them pretty!(Well, trying, anyway!) I think I'm obsessed with ribbon-I can't get enough of it!! Anyways, this year, I was in love with some of the new wrapping paper I had found, so I thought I'd show you a few of them!

Oh Christmas tree....

For the past four years, we have yet to own a christmas tree. Well, this year, we decided that we couldn't go on having a beautiful bay window in the the front play/sitting room without displaying an awesome christmas tree in it~!! So one day, I decided to go buy us a tree, brought it home, and got out all the fun ornaments I bought with Aunt Sharon in Houston! Ryan was working late at the hospital that night. When he called at 11:30 on his way home, I had just finished the tree. I hadn't told him about the tree because I wanted it to be a surprise. Well, right after he said he'd be home soon, he ended saying, "Honey, I've decided we need to get a Christmas tree!" I just said, "Okay, we'll see." That made it that much more fun to see Ryan's reaction when he pulled in to the driveway and saw our sparkling new tree in the window!! I love surprises!!

I wish I had pics of THanksgiving day, but my camera battery died, and we didn't bring the charger! But, we had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We went to Houston, where we visited Ryan's aunt and uncle!! They are some of most enjoyable people to be around, and it seemed like every night my stomach was sore from all the laughing we did!! We love them so much! We're so glad they are so close by, and look forward to many fun times ahead~!

Rose/Conder Wedding!

In September, Carly and I flew out to Utah, to go to a wedding! The Rose family is basically my 2nd family, and their daughter Ashlee, was getting married in the SLC temple. It was so neat to see my girlie get married! She was such a beautiful bride and her new hubby is the sweetest. Later that day, after being married at the temple, the had a ring ceremony before the reception that they had me sing for. The whole day was amazing, and Ashlee and her Mom did an amazing job putting the wedding together. It definitely was one of the most gorgeous receptions I've ever been to!
It was so much fun to see old friends, and of course to spend time with the in-laws, and my sister, Karen, and brother, Devan(who are out there for school). It was an added bonus to be able to spend my birthday there as well!!Here are some pics from the wedding day~!

So this summer, I became a HUGE Twilight fan(who isn't?), and so a few of us girls went out to dinner, and then to the midnight "party/release" and Barnes and Noble. We felt pretty lame because we were seriously the only ones there above the age of 16!!! We had a pretty good laugh about it though! Luckily we didn't have such a miserable wait because my friend Jana, got the book at the library that day! SO we were reading it out loud in my car, while we waited for Midnight to roll around!

They all lined up and took Carly everyday after I got out of the hospital, right up to the time we left Cali. I could not ask for better friends or support!! We bought a house!

These pics are with the owners stuff still inside so we haven't moved in yet, but yes, we bought a house! In just about 6 weeks we will be leaving our beloved California and moving on to Dallas Texas where Ryan will be doing his Cardiology training/fellowship. We basically bought this house online(through our realtor of course,) but I was able to go down last week and make sure we didn't want to back out during our option period!! It turned out great, and we have lots to do with it, but it will be a great home for the next three years. There are three bedrooms upstairs/two bath-including the master, and downstairs is a full guest room/bath as well-So you all better come visit us-there's plenty of room!! We're ready for you any time! We feel blessed to be able to have a home, and are so excited!

So a few weeks ago one of my bestest friends came to visit!! She is a morning news anchor in Augusta Georgia, and I have not seen her since my wedding!!(yeah, it's been a long time!) Anyways, it was so fun for her to finally meet Carly-she just LOVED Liz! It was so fun to have some girl time out on the town with my best pal of 10 years!!

Okay, it's official-I've won the award for worst Blogger of the year! To any of you left that are still occasionaly checking our blog in the wild hopes that something new will actually be posted....thanks for hanging in there!! I would go on with excuses but it's not important right now, and I know you'd much rather see pictures than words!! Carly was excited to get her Backyardigans coloring book, and a her little pink duck(which surpisingly lights up!! Ooooooh, awwwww!). Carly loves ducks right now and her impression of their sound is quite hilarious!

We had a great time the day before Easter! We went to a farewell party for some friends of ours, the Mosinski's(we sure are going to miss you Jen!), and there was an Easter egg hunt for all of the kids. We didn't know if Carly would understand it all, but she caught on fast! As soon as she got on the grass, she was cruisin' to any and every egg she saw!! We had to put a lot of eggs back on the ground because she got a little carried away(luckily she didn't see us), but she had a great time, and was sooooo cute!! We love our little bunny!!!

Here's Carly and her dear friend Vivi. As you can see, they're very close!! Hehe-It's so fun to see them together. Carly just loves Vivi, and she acts so old around her-giving her hugs and patting her head like Vivian's a little child and Carly is so grown up!! It's pretty funny. We love having Vivian and her mommy Natalee around!! Many days we don't know what we'd do without them!! Thanks for being so great Natalee!
I'm going to miss so many of you mommy's when we leave here in June!

So I realize that it's been a month since I last posted-horrible I know. Although this is going to sound a bit familiar from my last excuse a month ago, I swear it's the truth!!.....Well, about two weeks after I got better from the flu/cold, I started coming down with the same symptons-AGAIN! Within days, I was about as miserable as I could be. Within days of that, Carly started coughing pretty badly as well-yeah great! She started to get so bad, that at times, she was having a hard time getting air! It was getting pretty scary, and she'd had a 102 fever for days so I finally took her in to be seen. Sure enough my daughter had the CRUPE!!! It was so horrible, and she was so miserable. I felt so bad for my baby. It definitely distracted me from how miserable I felt! They gave her an overdose of steroids, and before I knew it, I had a sick raving lunatic running around the house(besides me)! Carly was still horribly sick, but she was so emotionally unstable(like her mother), agressive, and out of control!! OF course Ryan was on-call that day, and wouldn't be home from the hospital till the next afternoon(lucky me!). All I could do was pray that this chaos would pay off. The doctore told me that this behavior was "normal" with steroid treatment, and that it's common for even kids to get "roids rage!" Sweet-....Within three days, she finally was going off the steroids-I thought the worst was over......but apparently not! I don't know what was wrong but she was going through withdrawels or something! I have never wanted my baby back more than I did that week!! It was so nice when things started to finally calm down within a week or so. She and I were still sick, but we were both able to get more rest. So there you have it. It has been a crazy past month, and I feel I am entitled to at least one more month before getting sick again!! Is that too much to ask?? Let's hope not!!
I took this picture last week. I was playing dress up with Carly and trying on her new Easter dress(from the one and only Target!). Oh, and the black leggings are not part of the ensemble! I was just too lazy to take them off! Try to ignore the tornado that came through the room! Her laundry was literally everywhere!!

These were taken last week. Carly is deathly afraid of the vacuum, and what had happened here is Ryan had started it in the family and Carly booked it over to her little corner, grabbed all of her animals and blankets, and did not move a muscle until the vacuuming was over! It was pretty funny. She does this whenever the vacuum starts! The rest of the pics are just her in pure relief that the vacuuming is over!! Yea!!

I am back and am no longer MIA from the blogging world-I do, might I add, have good reasons for my absense!! We went to Indianapolis for Christmas where my family now lives. We had a great time having all of us kids together under one roof! We got home on the 4th, and soon after Carly and I caught some nasty cold/flu and after a week of that I got a stomach flu on top of it all. I have been sick as a dog, but while I am "recooperating" I decided to let the world know that we're still alive!

We were so surprised that Carly didn't cry on Santa's lap, but she definitely kept her distance!!

I don't think Carly is ever as happy as she is when she gets to freely roam around the gym at church! She just loves all that open space!!

The other day Carly walked up to me with her bib on her head! Now these pics aren't quite as funny as she looked originally,(she looked like a bib-wearin' nun, but by the time I got the camera, it was starting to fall off!), but you get the idea! Carly LOVES putting things on her head, and on the back of her neck for some odd reason. She'll walk around putting things like glasses on, beads, shoes, make-up or whatever she can find on her head or around the back of her neck, and then walks up to the mirror in the hall to check herself out. She must be Ryan's child;)

Today, while I was on the computer I could hear Carly going back and forth from the door all the way to our living room and was talking up a storm while doing so. This had gone on for at least 10 minutes, so being the attentive mother that I am, I decided that I should probably see what she was doing that was so entertaining. I turn around to find her with one of my bags, on her shoulder, and just carrying it around like a "big girl." I just about died!!

She just kept going-walking around, talking, then she'd put it down for a second, sit down, look inside it for a moment, then stand back up, drag it a long and then pull it up on her shoulder-all while carrying on a conversation with herself that only she can understand!!

It was the funniest thing to watch!I was scared that she'd stop once I'd pull out the camera, but she was so proud, and wanted mommy to see how cool she was, so she just carried on! It was great!

I can't believe my little girl is growing up, and actually picking up on things that I do! I mean, how else would she know how to wear a purse(besides her natural sense of style of course.)??

I thought she was too young to already be acting like such a girlie girl! So now we have two things on the list to worry about- She's obsessed with shoes AND purses!! Watch out Mom and Dad!!!

When did your child(ren) stop taking two naps? I don't know whats going on with Carly, but all the sudden she's not going to sleep until being her crib for over an hour and a half!!(She usually takes 30 mins. max, if that to go to sleep!) I know it could be daylight savings, or teething, or who knows what, but I don't know what to do! My precious baby schedule is melting before my eyes!! AGHH!! It's just killing us all because Carly is such a scheduled kind of girl,(hehe-like mommy) that this curve is really throwing us all off!! SO, aside from all the other factors of why this may be happening, again-I'm just curious>WHen do most kids go from 2 to 1 nap? Is it too early for Carly??

Now that Carly is 100% walking everywhere, she is wanting to get into everything!! If she's off doing her own thing playing quietly somewhere, the moment I leave the room, she quickly stands up and runs right after me!!Even when I dash off as fast and as quietly as I can to grab something from my room or wherever, by the time I'm trying to get back out the door, she's right there!

Teaching her "NO" has been an interesting experience for Ryan and me. We are working on "no!" alot these days. I try to say "no" sternly, sometimes a couple of times, and then at the sign of the slightest retraction, I praise her by saying "thankyou!" and "good girl!" and she goes merrirly on her way. I've found that she's reacted much better to me saying no, if she hasn't already gotten into what she's not suppose to yet. For instance, as I see her approaching something I don't want her getting into, or she's about to grab or touch something she's not suppose to-me telling her no before she does it is usually successful!....unfortunately, like any other mother, I can't always watch her every move and she does beat me to it! Those "no" successes are a hit or miss!! It is funny though when I find myself almost coaxing her away from whatever the "hostage" may be, and I feel like an officer telling a gunman to just put the gun down, and we're all going to be cool and calm!! Other times I feel like her personal coach helping her overcome some of those "baby exploration" tendancies. It'll start and end something like this...."Carly no.NO-no.....stop-we don't touch that....Carly!!NO-NO. Thankyou!!>........NonOnono...Carly!! NONO-come on baby, be a good girl...come here..come on.....Good girl!! Let's play with this, okay?!... GOOD GIRL-THANKYOU baby!!"

Of course at times she feels the need to be defiant.

She'll give me that look,(yup-this picture-that's the look!) and I then know that she's going to do it anyway! I can "coax" her all I want, but she's going to stand her ground! All in all, we have been lucky as to how well she does when we say no(....I know all you moms out there are saying, "yeah, for now!!")
It's fun watching her just want to discover everything. She has so much fun.....sometimes too much fun if we don't keep a close eye on her!! It's just a whole new world when they are no longer crawling!! Be careful what you wish for, huH!?

I HATE Daylight Savings!!

Whoever thought daylight savings was necessary, was definately NOT a mother. I already had a screaming baby for two weeks a week ago because of a bad reaction to 1yr. shots, but for the past week, it's been because of daylight savings! DId it ever occur to anyone that some mothers have children who don't adapt to time change too well?! Carly won't even go to bed at night she's so messed up! She has never not gone straight to sleep. She never makes a peep from the time I put her down in her crib, but boy have "times" changed. She isn't going to bed till around 9:00!! Way too late for her. I don't know if she's overtired or what. The girl is waking up at 5:00 in the morning! I think we're all overtired!! So that's it- We've gone from waking up peacefully around 7:00 and going down around 7:45, to waking with with screaming and tears, and partying out till 9. Maybe it's our fault for creating such a scheduled baby, but it's the only way I can function, but now I am purely a disfunctional mother with a terrorizing baby from morning to night! Oh and the best part you ask me? This month Ryan is on call at the hopsital every fourth night! Which means that he works a normal day for 3 days, then on the fourth day he goes in at 6:00am, and comes home around 2:00pm the next afternoon, and goes right back early the next morning! By the time he comes home, I'm already pulling my hair out! The poor guy is already exhausted, and then to come home to me and a nutso baby?......I'm guessing not so fun.
I know I've probably been spoiled with a pretty good sleeper in the past, but to take it away from me so drastically???>...Seems cruel-that's all!
Let's just say the thought of coming home from Christmas break after being on Eastern time for two weeks does not give me happy thoughts. That's a THREE hour difference!!! I don't remember it being this difficult last year(of course she was a newborn), but even traveling she did fine adapting. Is it because she's getting older??
Well regardless of the reasons, I hate this!!
OKay, thanks for listening to me whine. I'm done now-just had to get it out! Feel free to tell me of your woes or advice!! ;)

So we apparently aren't that cool and really have nothing going on for Halloween, and as far as we know, our ward didn't have any kind of Halloween get together either. So I decided I would sport 1 of the 2 costumes that we have for Carly this year. This is her "costume" for today and then we will post some pics of her in her official costume for this Halloween!!
So the deal with the Pistons outfit is it was actually a gift from a business associate of my dad's that is in Detroit. We want to give him a big thank you for the cute outfit! He even sent a pistons sippy cup and a Pistons pacifier!! I mean, who knew the Pistons used sippy cups and binkies? The things you learn.......
Anyways, although we have no ties to the Pistons, this outfit is sure cute!! Sorry for so many pictures, but they're just so fun, and some of them you just have to click on to see up close!! Anyways, enjoy~!

Okay, so this new blog layout is more than a good thing I see!! All of you who weren't able to post comments or even look at the comments before, can now do so!! YEa!!! We're so excited to hear from you now, and thanks for lookin!
Oh, and we don't have any pictures to post as of right now. SO we're kind of boring at the moment- Carly had her 1 yr. shots last week, and has been really sick ever since!! We don't know what's wrong except that she cries non-stop all day, and has to be held(which is not her-well, at least not on a normal day!). Her leg is so swollen/red within a 2-3 inch radius of her shot site, and rock hard! She has had this before, except it only lasted for a day or two. IS this normal? She's been like this since Wednesday, with sad to say, no improvement or change!! I just feel horrible because I don't know what to do and she's clearly upset about something. We've been keeping tylenol in her, but it's obviously not doing the trick. She has been and is getting some more teeth in, but she never acts like this for days on end because of teething! HElp!

Yesterday was an exciting day!! Carly got a lot more confident in her walking! She has been walking by herself from one thing to another, but yesterday, she finally made it from one side of the ROOM to another!! Okay two things-It seems that whenever I decide to record anything, our house is a total disaster! How nice it would be to have a normal house when I'm showing it to the whole world!!Hehe, OH well-maybe next time! Also, why is it that I'm always too late to get out the video camera?! Carly had been walking so far across the room for about 10mins. beforehand, and instead of getting it on video, I sat there watching her! By the time I got her on camera, she must have been worn out because she only took about 3-5 steps at a time before plopping on the ground!! She did walk about 12 steps earlier though, and it looked a lot easier than it looks on the video!! Man, this chubby baby's got to get in shape!Hehe!
So anyways, it's not what I hoped for, but until I can bust the camera out at the right time, here's a few steps for you!

We just wanted to get some video of Carly using her walker! She's really getting into using it to get a round, and you can see, she gets around fast!! Sometimes too fast!! Let's just hope she doesn't drive someday like she uses her walker!

An exciting day!!......

Today is a wonderful day!! My little brother Devan finished his two year mission for our church in the Tallahassee, Florida Mission. He returned home today, and sadly we are not there-(which is hard for a big sister!), but we will see him at Christmas and we can't wait for him to meet his niece!!
Devan served an amazing mission. It was full of lessons of humility, patience, tolerance, service, hard work, commitment and love. He has born witness of the truth as a constant and true servant of The Lord. He has had many obstacles to overcome in the past couple of years, and he has faced them with confidence through his faith in The Lord. During these past two years, Devan's been incredibly blessed to be free of a physical burden that has taken a toll on his body most of his life, for the first time ever. What an incredible miracle it has been. We are all truly grateful to our Heavenly Father. He really does provide the way that is meant for each one of us.
Devan, we love you and are so proud of you and the work you have done on your mission. We know you will continue that work throughout the rest of your life.
The love that you have shared will live on in the hearts of all of whom you served forever. We thank you for the blessing it has been to be a part of this with you and the joy and strength you have brought to us through your missionary work.
At this time we feel it very much appropriate to say,
"Well done, thou good and faithful servant."

I love how much Carly's hair curls up!! I love the ringlets!! I love how sometimes it's stick straight, and other times flares out to the sides and looks super long!! Her hair has many looks, not to mention the crazy way her bangs are growing out!! I could swear that she has at least 50 different lengths going on in front!

We'll do it tonight!)because she was laughing SO hard when we'd rip paper in front of her!! Here's what it took to bring our little baby girl into this world!!.......

Carly was 4 days overdue, and earlier this day we had to get an ultrasound to make sure everything was still looking okay...........Well, when they told us that this "little" girl was looking at least 9 lbs. we were no longer aprehensive about getting induced!! We called our doctor right away, and he sent us to the hospital that night!...................After a long night of discomfort and contractions caused by a device they had to place in me to prepare for the induction, the induction finally began Friday morning @ 7:00 a.m.. What a long day that would be!.............By 10:00 pm and almost 24 hrs. of labor, I was finally ready to start pushing-and boy was I READY!!! Unfortunately our baby girl was not, and decided to take her SWEET time just as she had for the past day and a half, and had her Mommy push for a whoppin' 2 1/2 hours. Unfortunately Mommy only got to enjoy her epidural for 45 minutes until it had worn off( they turned it down once, and then off because they said I wasn't pushing right. They assured me that she'd be out in no time!! NOT SO!!!)SO for the next hour and 45mins. I experienced the shear pain of giving birth-Well, the shear pain of trying to get a baby out that just could do so on her own, and was literally shattering my tail bone!! With the patience and "handy work" of our wonderful OB, we were able to dodge a C-section, and miraculously "pop" that girl out with a 3rd degree episiotomy @ 12:45 a.m., 12/30/06, early Saturday morning!! No one could believe how big she was at a huge 8lbs. 9 oz. except for her Mommy of course, who'd sworn up and down for the past month that she was with out a doubt carrying at least an 8 pounder!!
I remember when they placed her on me and thinking how heavy she was to me! I cannot describe my relief and my joy to finally have her here. THe pregnancy had been long and hard with the hyperemesis and IV fluids, and getting through record heat wave in CAli during the last two months with NO AC! But I am lucky to have had a healthy baby, and I know like others, I could have had MUCH worse. Thanks to all of you for your prayers and thoughs at that time.
We are so grateful for our darling girl and the daily pure joy she brings to our lives. The time has flown to fast this past year! We love you Carly!

OKay, so some of you may know that Carly is quite good at picking up words with movement. Long story, but for example, when she was just 5 months old she starting to clasp her hands together in a begging kind of way whenever I said "Please Mommy!" It's been so much fun to see what she picks up, and we of course think she's the most gifted child around! So here's one of her things that we love to do with her. Whenever we're about to pray, we say to her, "Let's pray!" and about 90% of the time, she'll fold her arms, and bow her head!! She's done this for a few months now! When we're actually saying the prayer though, she just looks at both of us back and forth in a sort of, "What are we doing, and for how long do I have to fold my arms?" way. She thinks it's so funny that we're closing our eyes-Well kind of closing our eyes. We can't help but try not to laugh as we peek down at her to see what she's doing. IT's so funny to watch! She just sort of giggles quietly at the whole thing!
So obviously, we aren't praying here during these pictures, I was just folding my arms while sitting and watching her, and for some reason she thinks that means "Let's pray!" also!! Most the time now, if she sees us with our arms folded in any way, she does the same!! What a reverent baby we have!!! LOL~

Okay, so we are retarded and can't figure out what to put Carly in for a carseat. As you can see from the last post, she's very much outgrown her infant seat, but we don't know what to buy next! We don't know what's the best or worth the money. I'm reading that Britax marathon is the best, but almost $300 for a carseat? Is that normal?>we don't know. We just want something that Carly will last in, be comfty in, and not scream in the whole time we're in the car(which is where we're at now-the poor thing probably hates her carseat at this point!! IT's TOO SMALL!!
Okay, so I know lots of you mommies that read our blog have just transitioned to a bigger carseat or are about to, so please tell me your thoughts, suggestions, or what you've gone with!! Thank you!! We really need to get one soon!

Just thought I'd redeem Carly's reputation with the "sweet" photos I took of her the same day as the "crazy monster" pics.
I am so grateful for my little Carly. She really brings so much joy to our lives! The past year has been a wild one. It's been difficult with Carly's extreme food allergies-not knowing what was wrong for the first 6 months, ear drum rupturing, trying to get her terrible reflux under control, her major attachments to mommy-not being able to leave her with anyone, Ryan being gone all the time, etc..But I know there's people out there with MUCH worse, and we've survived. As pathetic as may seem, I feel like I'm just barely getting the hang of things and being a mom. Carly is starting to discover some independence (with a little nudge or two) and she's just a happier baby now that she can get herself around. She is so much fun-I think Ryan and I could watch her all day. I feel so blessed to have the best most darling baby in the world, as well as the best husband in the world. He's really been a trooper throughout everything. I don't know how he handles being a doctor in training and then coming home to an exhausted wife and child every day. He helps out so much-in fact he's had to do more than his fair share and hasn't complained once about it. I am truly blessed!

I was just wondering if anyone else thought this was the most heart-breaking, oh so sad picture of a baby ever!! Aren't I such a mean mom that instead of picking up my baby, I picked up my camera instead?! Well, actually, I was kind of already holding it and taking pictures, but I did continue and take this shot instead of being a good mommy and picking her up. I actually don't even remember what made her cry, but boy, was it a good cry!! No worries, I aborted my bad mommy ways immediately, picked her up for a good cuddle, and ALL BETTER!!!

My little sister Karen is starting as a freshman this coming week at BYU. We are so proud of her and Carly was so excited that her aunt is swimming for BYU that she decided to pay her tribute by wearing mommy's swim goggles!! HEhe-what a goof!
We love you Karen!! You'll do great!! Enjoy every minute of it! = )

I need some advice........please, HELP!

So right now, I'm having a problem (among others!!haha~). Carly sleeps with a binky at naptime(this is so not happening with the next child...or so I say now). She doesn't really ever have a binky at any other time of the day. We occasionally take it with us when we go out in case a Carly crisis breaks out, but that's it!
Right now she's doing this thing where she is dropping her binky outside her crib and sometimes along with her little giraffe blanky square-Both of which she cannot/WILL NOT sleep without. At first when I started to notice that this was becoming a habit, I tried to not go in there and get it-I figured that she was doing it just to get me to come in(and she probably is), but then she just cries for hours and refuses to nap. I thought if I try to ingnore it, then eventually she'd get the idea to not toss them out. No luck with that strategy!! So I don't know what to do. I hate going in there when I hear that's she's dropped them on the monitor and I don't want this to go on forever! Should I try to wean her of her binky at naptime? (She has one to go to bed with at night, but I take it out before I go to bed, and she sleeps through the night without it! We were lucky on that one!)She doesn't do the extra binky in the crib thing either. My mom said to clip it to her but she doesn't like that and just messes with it and gets it off as well!! I need some suggestions, or hear what any of you have done!! Even if I've said stuff that you've done that hasn't worked so far, I want to hear it!! I need encouragement desperately!! Thanks moms!!

Alrighty, so as you may have noticed, I haven't been the best blogger lately. I have been sick for the past few weeks, and have been lazy about posting. In fact being sick really isn't my excuse, as I haven't really ever been good about consistantly posting! I won't post for a while, and then I'll post about ten different posts to catch up, but that's not as fun for daily readers/bloggers!! I love to see friends and families blogs that post more often...So, I am going to try to follow their example (Brittany-You are the best at this! Thank you!) Even if I don't have pics, I have so much I can say, and have many things in my daily life that I would love to get advice on!
Okay, so you're hearing me say it, and I want you to call me on it when I slack!!
BUT, since I'm starting this today, you'll have to forgive me for a quick "catch up," for the last time. I have tons of pics from the last week, and so slowly but surely, I am going to post them over the next few days. I also have been "tagged" by Liz, so eventually I will put that up as well!

Carly had crazy hair this morning!! We came in to get her and she actually had a fever(that's why her cheeks are kind of rosie) She's getting FOUR top front teeth all together-NO FUN!! Okay, so I'm having a terrible time keeping a bib on Carly. She's EXTREMELY strong willed, and refuses to keep her bib on. She loves to rip it off, and give the most defiant face and look at us as she tosses it overboard. I tell her no, I praise her when she keeps it on, I keep my hand on it to try to keep her from taking it off-I don't know what else to do!! I tried using the hard plastic bibs that she can't get off, but then she just sits and yanks and yanks on it till she's hurting her neck!! You'd think that'd stop her, but nO! By the last leg of meal times, I've given up and let her just make a mess because it just takes too much energy and time to keep putting it on! HElp me! I can't get out all the stains on her clothes! Such a mess! I'll take any and all suggestions!>....

So much work, but who can't love those baby blues?!?...saves her every time!!

Pack'n Play!

We have this wonderful Pack'nplay that isn't the typical pack'nplay. It's by graco, and it's call the Tot Block. I love it because it's square and a lot bigger than the standard pack'nplay! Carly lasts so much longer in it because she has room to move around! I love it! I also love that I got it practically brand new (used once at a grandmas house) off of Craigslist for $35 bucks!! That's $65 dollars less than in stores!! Yahoooo!!! Gotta love a steal!
P.S. I swear Carly doesn't always "sport" such nastified clothes!! She's practically wearing her lunch!! Good grief! Don't worry, I changed her....eventually!! LOL

Ryan's mom flew out Sunday night, but his dad and Carsen stayed till Monday morning to see San Fran on the drive home. SO here's pics of Carly's goodbyes!
I don't know what's up with Carly's smile these days! She loves to scrunch up her nose and half close her left eye!!(Maybe we should get that checked?hehe) It's not the most attractive thing ever, but it's pretty funny. I call her "One-Eyed Jo." She looks like she's trying to make some kind of pirate face!! ARRRRRRR!!! I just wish I could get a normal picture every once in a while!! Silly baby!
She'll probably grow out of it before Kindergarten school pictures, right?!

Carly has so much fun with her Uncle Carsen!! I was a little worried that Carly might not take to everyone soon enough before they had to go(she's a HARDcore Mommy's girl, and doesn't do so well with other people), but luckily she did just great with everyone! We think that maybe having my sister Annie here (2 days prior to the weekend) for 8 days broke her in a little!!! It was nice to have someone else hold her for a change!(Not that I don't love holding my baby!)

We celebrated Ryan's 30th birthday last Sunday!We had a great weekend-Ryan's parents and his little brother Carsen came up from Utah and surprised Ryan when he got home from work on Friday(and I mean REALLY surprised him!It was pretty funny to see his shocked reaction). We played, laughed, swam, ate lots, and most of all, just enjoyed eachothers company. It was a fabulous weekend! Thanks so much Mom, Dad, and Carsen for coming to visit!! We love you!

Ryan and I celebrated our 3rd Anniversary yesterday! We were married 8/06/04!
3 years ago and still going strong!
Thanks to our "built-in babysitter for the week," (my little sister Annie), we were able to go out for a really nice dinner, and finally to the movies!(First time since Carly's been born!!) We saw Harry Potter, and it was awesome!!! We are old-timers though because we were exhausted being out past 10:30!!! Hehe~ LOL~ I guess that's what being parents will do to ya! Anyhow, we had such a wonderful evening of celebration.
I can honestly say that as much as I love Ryan, I continue to love him more and more each day. He is such an amazing example to me of unconditional love(a useful quality to have being married to me!!), and he is the cutest/sweetest Daddy ever! I can't imagine my life or myself without him.
We have been so blessed with the love, support, and wisdom of close friends and family through these years. We are so grateful to have been married and sealed in the temple for time and all eternity, and for that solid foundation of our home and family.
